The best experience I ever had with a Makeup Artist

I got married in 2013 at the Grand Bahia Principe Akumal in Riviera Maya, UnknownMexico. It was probably one of the best weeks of my life. However, trying to choose a make up artist was one of the hardest decisions I had to make.  I had no interest in most of the wedding details. I was so far from a bridezilla I think it might have been more irritating for the people who were trying to plan it than if I had been overly controlling.  I only cared about hair, make up and the dress.

It took me 8 months to pick between getting a makeup artist and doing it myself.

I love my makeup, I love the act of applying it, trying different looks, and making sure it lasts as long as possible. I like being in control of what is going on my face, the shading and colours etc. I am not a neutral natural make up kind of girl. That being said, I had concerns about making sure that I didn’t sweat everything off. I didn’t want to be worried about my false lashes falling off if I applied them myself. I just can’t get a handle on false lashes on a regular day, never mind something so high pressure as my own tropical nuptials.

Then I came across Fernando at the Makeup Pros. I fell in love immediately. The looks he does are beautiful but not neutral. The women he worked on looked amazing. There was not one photo in his gallery/portofolio that I didn’t love. He works out of the Riviera Maya and I STRONGLY recommend him.

What I asked for
What I asked for

He took exactly what I wanted and replicated it. He didn’t tell me what I should have chosen that would have been better, or how he could have made it better. He did EXACTLY what I asked for. He was sweet and so talented. I have never had such a positive experience with an MUA in my life.

He was attentive in hearing what I wanted, and completed myself, my mother,IMG_8622 grandmother and cousin, in about an hour and a half. I have never seen my grandmother look so amazing. She was fabu granny with her falsies and perfect contour. Those falsies stayed on that lady for another two days afterwords because she just loved them so much she refused to take them off. I am fairly certain she has them in a wedding scrap book somewhere.

IMG_8746My baby cousin, who isn’t really baby at all, she’s 20 but will always be a baby to me is a very beautiful girl. Stunning blonde hair, blue eyed, tall fun California type girl. She wears minimal make-up on a daily basis and he did wonders on her as well.

Fernando and I had some good jokes about the products and contour and I was very impressed with his kit. He really knew his stuff and made sure we were all happy and he kept everyone calm, cool and collected. The gage of the contour was how many pounds lighter I wanted to look in photos, obviously my response was 20. The camera adds ten pounds right? Plus that extra ten we all wish would just bugger off on a regular basis.  The final results…. Photo Credits to Lisa Kopp Photography, she is out of British Columbia, Canada.
