Ipsy Review | April 2015 | Mica Beauty Eye Primer

In this months Ipsy I received a Mica Beauty eye primer. I thought it looked like it could be a dupe for Macs Painterly, but with a matte finish.

Description on their website: “Use MicaBeauty Eye Primer to seal in Eye Shadows and Foundation, enhancing your all-day look. Go from shimmer to matte in just seconds. This waterproof formula provides the perfect foundation for a long lasting, smudge proof look that is designed for your active lifestyle. MicaBeauty Eye Primer helps even out skin tone as well as extends and intensifies your mineral eye shadows, without creasing, smearing, or fading.”

mica 4So I am about to lay it out for you. I would be pissed if I had bought this. The packaging makes it difficult to put my finger in and get product out. I had to use a synthetic brush to apply it to my eye. If I try and apply with my finger (which I prefer) I gouge out the product.

I had taken photos of my eyelid before and after and as you can see there is little to no difference at all.

One side is before and one is after. It doesn’t even matter which is which because they both look identical!  At the end of the day I had creasing throughout my lid and this is not an issue I normally have.

I am glad this wasn’t a product that I purchased. If I had paid … WOAH I JUST CHECKED THEIR WEBSITE AND THIS BAD BOY GOES FOR $44.95! ARE YOU NUTS?! NOT ON YOUR LIFE!

THIS PRODUCT = C- FOR ME. Don’t do it. It’s a trick.

This is a perfect example of price not equating to quality.

  1. It smells like modeling clay and it sort of feels like it too. I bet if they made modeling clay in this color, it would be some kind of beauty hack. That said, the stickiness of it does a pretty good job holding onto that Nude Dude shadow they sent this month. There’s a point at which something does too good a job looking like you’re not wearing makeup, and that’s the point I save my money and just go without makeup.
