The Eyeshadow Tag

I would like to thank Kaily Baute for tagging me to do this post. I was reading her blog and the whole time thinking “damn this would be a perfect post for me” when BAM I was the first one on her tag list!

On to the questions

1. How many eyeshadows do you own?

I need this to be as accurate as possible so I at my last count about six months ago I had 1580. This is per pot, in all palettes, including the 120 pan cheapies. Today I am at 1662. Yes I completely realize I never need to buy another shadow again!

2. What was your first ever eyeshadow?

I am sure I had some sort of Barbie play set shadow at some point, but the first eyeshadow I remember purchasing myself and consistently wearing would have been when I was around 14 or 15, and it was an aggressively silver cream shadow from Bonne Bell.

3. What is your most worn eyeshadow?

It isn’t anymore, but if we are going for the most damage I have ever done to a shadow it would have to be Bravado from Mac. I wore this everyday for years in my hearly 20’s when I wore blue contacts. Then I realized it was limited edition and I would never be able to get it back so I better cool my jets, and haven’t touched it again since. Because I might run out and then I would have a very obvious hole in my collection.

4. What is your favourite brand for eyeshadow?

I am going to have to say Lorac. They have some fails, but I enjoy their prices and quality and never feel like I am being ripped off. I don’t want to cop out and say UD because I do like them, but some of their shades REALLY flop for me.

5. What is your favourite finish?

For everyday matte, for evening THE SHIMMERIEST METALLICS! I realize I need to start acting my age while at work, and although I do wear shimmers to work a lot I think it is a fair statement to say that I would give up shimmers for everyday before mattes. At night time I can’t be contained though.

6. What is the last eyeshadow you bought?

The last eyeshadow I bought… this is hard to remember but I am 99% sure it was the La Palettes #1 and #2 from L’oreal, of which I am a huge fan.

7. How many eye products do you currently have in your bag?

None actually. I rarely keep make up with me other than a lip product here and there. I rely on setting spray and good primers to get me through the day. I already have a million things to carry with me so no need to add to the mess!

8. What eyeshadows do you use to rock a smokey eye?

None in particular, I am really good at running through my collection, I just pick a shade family and grab what I feel like works that day. I mix up my brands and palettes fairly frequently so it’s always a craps shoot. Some of my faves are the Lorac Pros and my Sonia Kashuk Matte palette.

 

9. How do you store your eyeshadows? 

My singles, quads, duos, trios etc are all in the third drawer of my Alex tower in lovely rows.

My palettes all live in my Malm drawer, and the larger palettes that don’t fit in there are either in the last drawer of the Alex tower or are in a white box sitting on my vanity. I am pretty organized when it comes to my make up so if anything is out of place I notice right away, and I can tell if something has been moved etc.

 10. What eye products are you currently lusting over? 

Some palettes that are currently on my wishlist are the Tartelette palette, the new Makeup Geek summer shades and foil shadows, and last but not least I would like to give the new Buxom customizable palettes a run for their money.
