It took me along time to decide if I was going to purchase this highlight or not. I don’t mind supporting the company in general, but putting a famous YouTubers name on a product just to sell it has been leaving a bad taste in my mouth. Read: Gerard Cosmetics + MannyMua + Jacklyn Hill) among others.
From what I heard via Jacklyn Hills’ snapchat, the release of Champagne Pop was one of the biggest releases in beauty history, which for her must have been pretty incredible. I don’t want to put down the opportunity to be named on a product on Sephora’s website. That would be incredible and a dream come true for many of us I bet.
Anyway, I did finally decide to bite the bullet and pick it up a few weeks ago. It retails at Sephora for $46. Description: A limited-edition, creamy, luminizing powder to illuminate the face with a soft, pearlized glow.
I took a video demo so show how I apply it, I use a fan brush to do most of my highlighting because I am not a huge fan of the over highlighted look on me. It just looks like I am sweaty, and sweaty ain’t cute.
Swatches: On the right is one finger swipe and as you can see is very intense. On the left is one swipe blended into the skin. I really do like this highlight, but for a beginner I would likely not suggest it. It’s intense and isn’t the easiest to work with if you don’t have the right tools.
$46!! Geeze… It doesn’t look that big either. But what do I know? Haha! It does look pretty swatched. But you mentioned you need the right tools… And I’m sure I don’t. Womp Womp

It’s just a fan brush lol and it would actually look amazing on you because of your tones it’s a rose gold highlight and it would make you look like an angel lit from within!

I never did nite that bullet. It’s too expensive for me. And not a big fan of fads. I know everyone says it’s great and it does look great. But not going to be here that long. And I don’t go that strong with highlighters. I like Elfs Baked Blush in Pinktastick and they have some called blushed gems. I have a cpl of those I bought one came in broken like the top hump came off. So called them and the one I bought was not in stock so I got a different color. So now I have three from that line. I also have some shadows that would be food too. They r all a lot smaller but helps in storing. I thought if I ever got one it would be one of the other colors they have and maybe in a liquid form more. They have Beautiful products. But I’m not for one to buy a lot of LE products because I don’t want to like it so much I use it all up and it’s gone. I want something I can replace. Not like I couldn’t anyway. With one of the others. But I find myaeld not using them a lot. Don’t want to run out. It’s a mad circle. Lol. I picked up two Baby lips not realizing they were LE. And I love them. Only two I have and have ever tried. I am still new to a lot and trying to build a collection. I have worn makeup many years. Buy discovered You Tube a cpl yrs ago and fell right into everything else and have become a huge fan of makeup now. But I don’t have a loto ey so that helps keep me in check too. So it doesn’t get out of control. Because it could very easily with everything out there. Thanks so much. Love what u do.

The price is crazy… Although the colour is amazing. Can it compare to the balms marylou manizer?

Definitely, I had actually written a section comparing the two. The colour pay off is the same but the shades are completely different. Mary Lou is really white and this one is very gold. If you prefer the white undertone I would definitely say the balm over this just solely based on price.

I haven’t tried any, I prefer the more golden look as I have a more tanned colour skin.. I think a white undertone will just look like I took baby powder and mixed it with glitter and applied to my face 😂 please suggest any other ones that may go with my skin colour?

It’s Jaclyn, not Jacklyn. 😉
I love this highlight. Wearing to today actually. If you use a light hand it’s perfect for daytime. I use the Real Techniques Setting Brush to apply it.

Wow it really is intense! I didn’t see it much when you were applying it on the right cheek but when you applied it on the side closest to the camera I was like WHOA! It’s very pretty though!!!

It looks really beautiful. Maybe a little too intense for my liking though. I get what you mean about collaboration products. I just don’t really feel the need to spend a bunch of money because someone put their name to a product.

It’s frustrating to me… I do love it so I think I would have liked it with her name or not. Just feel like I’m being forced to want a product because of someone else’s name you know?

Exactly! If a product can stand alone on its own without an added name I think that’s enough for me. I’m not willing to pay more because someone’s name is plastered on there.

This review was honestly so helpful!! This highlighter has been featured in nearly every July + August Favorites post or video I’ve read/watched. Personally, I think that $46 is a bit steep for a highlighter — but I may give it a try in the future. Thanks for sharing your honest opinion!

That’s all you will ever get here! In comparison to theBalm the highlight aspect is equivalent. However, they don’t carry this exact shade. But really it’s a highlight, who is looking that closely??
