For those of you who don’t know what I am talking about, Gwen Stefani has partnered with Urban Decay to create a lipstick set and eyeshadow palette.
Now when I originally hear this news, being a tween in the early 90’s I was stoked. I was immediately transported back in time, to my old bedroom with the dark people walls, Small white tube TV and my clear bubble chair, listening to Don’t Speak and being angsty and heartbroken about whatever Tom, Mark or Matt that likely had broken my heart in math class that day.
To me, Gwen is vibrant, incredible, flashy, fashionable and unpredictable. Her fashion choices over the years have been very much a statement in the music world, even in her own fashion line L.A.M.B. She goes from crazy to classy and everywhere in between and looks gorgeous and glamorous while doing it.
So you can imagine my surprise when the palette is released and it’s full of neutrals. The packaging is absolutely glorious! I know… you look at the pictures of Gwen above and she doesn’t have much for eyeshadow in any of her looks, but is it what she would wear? Or what she stands for?
Huh. I never thought of it that way. Not that it will stop me (go bubble chairs p.s.) It’s got her name on it and therefore it must be mine. But you’re right now that I look at it I feel like it should be more Vice-ish if that makes sense…

There absolutely is you’re right! But for me it doesn’t make sense. I have probably over 100 palettes currently, and I am trying not to purchase things that aren’t original
