Everyone and their mother has a make up line these days. Except me and my mother. What the hell Mom?
The first time I had ever heard of Huda beauty I was confused. I had no idea who this person was or why everyone was freaking out about it. Huda was an ultimate stranger to me. Could have been a hobo for all I knew. Turns out nope, Huda was living in Dubai and working in finance, and really not happy where her career was headed. So she made the shift to beauty and being a beauty influencer. The top beauty influencer in the world at that… where had I been? Living under a giant rock under at the bottom of the ocean it would seem
Her first launch came in the form of false eyelashes (which I rarely wear), and then a few lip products, and she is now dabbling in foundation and eyeshadow palettes as well.
All I own from this company is their first eye shadow palette, the Textured Rose Gold Shadow palette. Although I found it to be “ok” it was not quiet on the value point I needed it to be. Ringing in around $85 CAD for 18 shadows, ($4.70 per shadow) it really needed to be amazing. Unfortunately it fell short of the mark. Not short enough that I returned it, but definitely to a point where I would not recommend it to others. There are too many more affordable options that perform much better in my opinion.
As far as the brand is concerned I feel as though they are laying their pricing bench marks on Huda’s popularity on social media and not on the quality of their products, I have heard there have been some improvements made since I have purchased this palette, but the entire thing put a foul taste in my mouth, and I have been disinterested ever since.
Have you tried anything from Huda? Should I give her another shot?
Thank you. I have no clue Huda is and I don’t really care to try her makeup…
I noted that those new small 9 pan Obsessions palettes selling for $35 a pop and are made in China. No thanks!

Right?! I’m like who is this person and why is everyone freaking out? The new palettes are so teeny and are getting such amazing reviews but I keep seeing people receiving them broken

Just because something was made in China doesn’t mean it was tested on animals. Only products sold in China are because China is their own little planet and they do what they want, everyone else be damned.

I didn’t know who Huda Kattan was either – there are way too many “influencers” these days to keep up with all the names.
I haven’t tried any of her eye or face products. Her eye palettes look pretty, and I like that she has so many different finishes included in each palette, but the straight-up glitter shades are a huge no-no for me, so I have no interest in trying them. I did buy one of her lip products on a whim during the VIB sale though, and have really been enjoying it.

Good to know about the lip product but I just feel like there are SO many lip products hat are similar and for so much cheaper. And you are 100% right the textured shadows are not good at all

I didn’t have a clue who she was either! While I’m not against purchasing anything from her brand, there hasn’t been anything that’s really caught my eye either.

Absolutely! I’m not throwing shade, but it all just seems kind of bleh and the quality is not what I would call great.

I have her Mauve Obsessions palette (tiny little thing with 9 shadows). It’s surprisingly good. I was apprehensive because I heard the Rose Gold palette was kinda meh but the Desert Dusk was a huge improvement. I had a gift card to blow so I got this right at the end of last year. I have a full review coming next week on my blog.

So I guess it is not worth splurging on the full-size palettes either. Good to know.

I’ve never heard about this Huda girl prior the launch of the palette, so don’t worry, you are not alone 😀 And I’m yet to try anything from her line, and I’m thinking of the small palettes!

I have heard those ones have the better reviews…. the ones that don’t come broken

Yes, I’ve tried the huda beauty liquid matte lipstick in cheerleader and it’s so nice. You can check the review on my blog. Looking forward to try the foundation but it’s expensive

I guess my questions are more along the lines of was it actually worth the cost? As you say the foundations are expensive so does this influencer deserve those price points?

I’ve never bought anything from Huda Beauty because a) I’m a student and I don’t have that much money to blow on makeup, b) I don’t get the hype. The colours are pretty and the Warm Brown Obsessions palette is right up my street, but I just get put off when the prices get higher and higher because of Huda’s social media following rather than for the quality of her products. x

I totally agree I think that why I stay away from it I want to pay for quality not name.

I don’t buy anything from her either, just not for me. I don’t particularly know what to think of her brand because it’s mostly instagram famous and very hyped up!

I’m glad I’m not the only one. I felt crazy!

I feel like the price points on the Huda Beauty products are too high and I find the reviews all over the place with a lot of mixed and not so glowing reviews.

Exactly I’m in the same boat

I totally agree with what you said about how they fix the prices based on her large social media following. I have two of her liquid lipsticks and I think they’re good but not amazing out of this world quality for the high price. $85 for an eyeshadow palette is ridiculous!

I own the Desert Dusk palette. Had not interested for the first palette as those textured shadows look like a mess. The Desert Dusk only has one of them and includes purples and a few interesting and unique duochromes that make it worth it to me. Not interested in any of her other products. But I am considering looking into the bright mini palette. Still, with nowhere near me selling the products and only available through Cult Beauty I don’t think I’ll try it soon.
