Maybelline Powder Matte Lipstick | Concrete Jungle

There are not many things in life that confuse me. This lipstick does. I picked this up from Walmart for $8.99 on the weekend thinking OOOO I love the Maybelline lipstick formula’s and this colour looks awesome. I’m going to try it, love it, and tell the world.

Nope. Not So.

What it’s supposed to do?

• Pure matte lipstick
• 2x more mattifying powders vs color sensational creamy matte lipstick
• Glide onto lips for an effortlessly cool and edgy look

I will give it that it;s a creamy matte look and feel, and that it gives an edgy look. If by edgy you mean patchy around the edges.

This was about 5 swipes with the product, and although it’s a cool grey purple and I really dig the colour. I’m not sold on the wear.

I know if you have been here before you have seen this picture which includes the aforementioned lip colour, and TOTALLY LOOKS COOL AND EDGY. 

But then real life sets in, I’m not in perfect natural lighting, and I’m taking the picture with an iPhone and not a professional grade camera. and BAM. The truth comes out.

It’s patchy, just like in the swatch, this is after… 5 swipes? And this lip colour still won’t stay attached to certain spots on my lips. You’re welcome for these super flattering photos of me. In the picture below I stuck my tongue behind my lip so you can see the true grossness of how this lipstick looks. 

Concrete Jungle? You and I are not friends, and I don’t wish to see you anymore. Some may say that this end of a relationship is my fault, that I didn’t exfoliate enough. That I didn’t try. BUT I DID, I did try and you just weren’t there for me holding up your end of the deal.
