Milani Conceal and Perfect Foundation Review

Good Morning all, and enjoyable Monday to you. Yeah right I know.  It would seem last weeks best laid plans didn’t work out too well but I intend to be back to regularly scheduled posts this week.

Starting out with a review of a “New to Me” Foundation. I wanted to see if I could replicate the finish I get from the Laura Mercier/YSL Combo I have been loving for a few months now, because who can afford $100 on foundation every few months? Even if I could, doesn’t mean I WANT to.  I picked this up from The Real Canadian Super Store, for $18.99 (It’s $10 on their website, which I didn’t know until just now. However that would be USD)

My Experience

I purchased the shade light beige which was the third from the lightest on the spectrum provided, and it does pull slightly yellow on me. Which I am hearing is a common complaint. If your undertone is not in the yellow range or at the very least neutral, I’m going to say right away this is not the foundation for you. We don’t want any accidental Ompa Loompas.

Wanting to give a good show, I took three pictures of my bare face, to show how much coverage this provides using the Real Techniques beauty sponge, and only one layer. There is also no concealer happening on this face.

After my one application, this is how my face looked. I do recommend the sponge as opposed to a brush to be honest. I’m not sure many would agree with me based on other reviews I have seen, but the sponge sheered it out nicely for me. When I used my dense foundation  brushes I looked cakier that I would like to. Is Cakier even a world?

Pardon my fly aways, but I thought it best to show the real impact of the foundation, with only have my face done. It really toned down my redness and covered my imperfections well. I also don’t see much for fine lines.

Another thing I tried while using this foundation is the ‘apply powder with damp sponge instead of a brush’ and this helped immensely, with giving a flawless finish, as well as setting my makeup for hours and hours.

I had assumed I would probably like this foundation based on other reviews, but I certainly didn’t think I would truly be able to retire my green concealer along with it!

My absolute favourite way to wear this is with a half pump of the YSL all hours foundation. There is something about mixing that one in with everything I own that just perfects my complexion, and tones down whichever foundation I am wearing that day.

Thanks so much for reading, what are your foundation tricks?!

  1. I started doing the applying loose setting powder with my damp sponge a couple years ago and it’s the only way to go for me. And if my face looks too powdery, I just spray my face with my Mario Badescu spray and go over it with my sponge and it makes my skin look more like skin again.
