Tati sneaks up on the market with her own makeup line

There had been talks and some random speculation that Tati Westbrook of GlamLifeGuru on YouTube (one of the only large YouTubers I am still subscribed too) would be releasing her own makeup line. Those rumours didn’t last though, and we were left with Laura Lee, Manny and Jaclyn H with their promises of their own life changing line.

It has to be said, okay we get it guys, you can get your names on packaging now, and I dont want to take anyones dreams away, reach for the stars! but…. How many brands can the market handle? Should we have expected people to perhaps collaborate on one company? It may have been more successful, and the capital funding would have likely been higher.

ANYWHOO back to the reason you came which was the details on Tati. We don’t know much but we know it’s coming and within a month or two. Thank you for not doing what everyone else has been doing and been dropping hints for years and years. I hope it’s been in production for awhile, and we are going to reap the benefits.

I will post more details as I find them!

When you agree to be acquaintance’s…

The last two years have been different, I keep saying it, and I keep meaning it. I can feel myself morphing, changing and growing into a new person.

This new person you might ask? IS STILL OBSESSED WITH MAKEUP AND NEW RELEASES SO DON’T BE FOOLED, but the excitement is not the same, now I spend more time thinking what I could create with it, and less about how the package is cute, and OMG UD released something new. Quality not quantity – yeah right give me more.

EG- The new Naked Petite Heat… Cute but, I have the naked heat, so why petite? Go big or go home.

Let me tell you one thing though, there is a product sucking me in and I’m not sure what to do about it… Do I jump? Do I take that plunge? There must be some meaningful quote about love and how much it can hurt but you can’t be hurt if you don’t jump? Where was I going with this? I don’t even remember…. The Moonlight Magic, that’s where I am going.

Colourpop and I had a discussion long ago that we wouldn’t really be friends. We would say Hi across the hall and give the nod of acknowledgment (You know the one I am talking about, where you feel like you are seen, but don’t particularly care to speak) and then we would politely move on like nothing ever happened.

But then I saw these. Screen Shot 2018-02-06 at 8.30.06 PM.png

And now I don’t know what to do. Is Colourpop into me? Why this sudden attraction? Can I afford this torrid love affair? Is it just the pheromones? I don’t even know what is real and who I can trust anymore.

What to do….

Maybelline Powder Matte Lipstick | Concrete Jungle

There are not many things in life that confuse me. This lipstick does. I picked this up from Walmart for $8.99 on the weekend thinking OOOO I love the Maybelline lipstick formula’s and this colour looks awesome. I’m going to try it, love it, and tell the world.

Nope. Not So.

What it’s supposed to do?

  • Pure matte lipstick
  • 2x more mattifying powders vs color sensational creamy matte lipstick
  • Glide onto lips for an effortlessly cool and edgy look

I will give it that it;s a creamy matte look and feel, and that it gives an edgy look. If by edgy you mean patchy around the edges.

This was about 5 swipes with the product, and although it’s a cool grey purple and I really dig the colour. I’m not sold on the wear.

Products I will Always Repurchase

There are always those products that you consistently reach for. Even me, who moves through my collection like a river over a waterfall. I don’t stick to one product for long, my palettes look brand new, because they are each used as much as another, and for the most part I don’t even dip into the same spot in the pan.

There are however a few holy grail products, that I will repurchase time and time again and hold a dear place in my heart, and I will always reach for them.

NYC Liquid Liner download4.jpg

Walmart $3.99

It looks cheap because it is, BUT it’s amazing, and I am on my 3rd of 4th. This is a brush tip and a wet formula, and doesn’t operate like a pen. The brush isn’t stiff, but doesn’t fray and can give a thick or thin line depending on the style you want and the way the brush is angled. Do I think this is a good product for someone trying to learn how to do a wing for the first time? Probably not because it is VERY black and intense, but if you have mastered the art of the pen, save yourself $15 from buying the tattoo liner ( Which don’t get me wrong, is also great) and buy this instead. There is no transfer and it stays on forever. For those of you with dogs, it can withstand a million puppy kisses too. Trust me, my guys have tried.

downloadYSL The Shock Mascara

Sephora $29

Yeah I know, pretty steep contrast to Mr. Eyeliner up there, but I swear it’s worth it. I have recommended this to countless people and most believe it is worth the splurge. I open it and let it sit for a week or two, (not open, but unsealed from the factory) to let it dry just a bit. I prefer a dryer formula so I do this periodically to make products work better for me. No flaking, No clumping, just big volumized lashes, that at the end of the day come off with minimal effort.

Clinique Take the Day off Cleansing Balm download

Sephora $38

This product came as a surprise to me when I received it as a deluxe sample, which I promptly used and went and repurchased the full size. This is a solid makeup remover. I know right? You are all like what? Wouldn’t that hurt? No people it doesn’t. Think coconut oil (Which is also a great beauty tool for removing makeup, making hair shiny, and adding a little coconut flavour to zucchini noodles.) This cleanser breaks down your makeup, and then all you need to do is wash it off with warm water and a face cloth, and then carry on with your regular skin care routine. I also have a penchant for the Boscia  Makeup Breakup Cleansing Oil.

Cerave Daily Moisturizerdownload.jpg

Walmart $20

Seems steep for walmart doesn’t it? Until you realize this tub is as big as my head, and really works wonders for not only your face but for your body as well. I appreciate its ability to last forever, and be a multi use product. I am on my second tub, and it’s worth it. Just like you.

Ladownload.jpgura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder $47

This is something that almost annoys me. I can’t find any powder that is this good. I keep looking for the Airspun powder that you can get at Walmart in the states to replace it, but its just not working out for me. That being said I am on my 3rd round of this powder, because it’s so damn good I keep shelling out the big bucks for it. Although bitter about it, I still do it.

download.jpgNYX Pore Filling Primer

Shoppers $14.99

I wish this was just a teeny bit cheaper, but it’s still my favourite pore filling primer that doesn’t pill up on my skin. I press this into the places on my face where my pores are more prominent, and use the Hangover RX from Too Faced on the rest of my skin. This covers both my dry skin and my large pores with minimal effort.

Thanks for coming by today, what products to you find yourself repurchasing over and over?

Lipstick Collection & Declutter

Guys, I finally got up the balls to do a REAL declutter, I had no idea how far down the rabbit hole I had gotten with my lip products, I was almost hitting 300, who could use this much? Not me obviously, especially since I didn’t even like half of them.

I recorded my collection and my declutter, and to be honest, it was fairly savage, with almost half of the collection gone in the end. Some old and expired, some I don’t like, or have terrible formulas. This seems wasteful, but many were also sent in PR, so I try not to feel too bad. It’s a great video to leave on in the background if nothing 🙂

Thanks so much for watching/reading, and feel free to leave your links below.

Anti Haul 2018 #1

There is so many things about me that have changed since I started this blog. The main one being having to buy every single new product that came out. Three years ago it was about quantity not quality. It was about tools and not technique. I spent some time in the beauty community last night looking at some very talented people’s work and lets be real here, I am just not on that level. 3 years ago, that would have been very discouraging to me, and now I just accept it. There are many more facets to me than makeup. Now I will buy products to review, that are different, something that hasn’t been done, and isn’t duplicated 30 times over.

This being said, welcome to my first anti-haul of 2018. (Not to be confused with Auntie Haul (When your Aunt buys you presents.)

Shop My Stash Week 1

Shop my stash has become fairly important to me, for those of you that don’t know what the premise of this is… It’s basically a way to realize if you actually like something that is sitting in your collection, or if you only keep it there because it feels nice to have a pile of make up that IF toppled could kill a small village.

These are the products I chose for last week with a quick explanation of how I feel about them, and if they are stash or trash.
