Child Destroys $1000 of Makeup! G.T.F Over It

At this point in the game if you are on social media and have EVER looked at a beauty related topic, I am certain your Facebook or Twitter algorithm has forced this article on you, with it’s epic click bait title.

Yeah I did it too. Deal with it.

If you know me, or have been around for awhile you know my feelings on children and parenting well are pretty set in stone. I support anyone who wants to have children but for reasons like the above, this life is not for me.

There are multiple issues why this article and the mass amount of coverage has frustrated me beyond reason.

  1. Why is this news? Is there nothing else going on in this world that idownload.jpgs more important than a child hand smashing some testers at a makeup store? If that’s the case, Trump must be gone, world hunger is solved, and the Middle East has found peace. Wait…. I didn’t wake up in that world. Did you?
  2. The headline is miss-leading. It reads as though a child walked into a Sephora, grabbed palettes off the display and smashed them onto the ground in a fit of rage over the lack of the right cerulean blue crayon to colour in that duck they are working on. – I would be pretty pissed too kid…BUT This is not what happened. Said child ruined testers. Testers that were already written off, and are sent to the store, to be tested. I have seen some adults do worse work on testers, than this.
  3. Should the parent have been watching the child? Of course they should be. That goes without saying. Does that mean these mothers, fathers, cousins, brothers, sisters, former roommates should not be able to go shopping for that they need? No. That’s ridiculous. Settle down twitter. Don’t tell people when they can and can’t shop and with who. Mind your own damn business, and please refer to item #2. Capture1.PNG

4. This is a teaching opportunity for parents, children, and staff. There is NO reason the parent shouldn’t have been paying attention to the child this long. Please… pay more attention. The child should learn to ask to play with anything on display. It might have stopped some of this damage from occurring, the parent could have easily explained they were in fact, not finger paints. (For a toddler anyway, they are definitely finger paints for me).  As for the store employees…. how did no one notice this happening? This is your store, your place of work. Have some pride, explain to the child what they are doing. Would you let someone steal from you? I would damn well hope not. The idea is to be on the floor and paying attention to your customers and what they are doing in your store.

Editorial Sephora Pro Palette Review

There isn’t much these days that makes me raise an eyebrow and be like YUP I need to review/buy that. Most things I buy now are original/different, or have to really blow my skirt up.

When I saw the pictures posted for the new Sephora Pro palettes on @trendmood1 I was surprised. Not because of anything in the shade range, or my particular distaste for the Sephora eyeshadow formula, but for the price. $85 for a Sephora brand palette? Are you nuts? Apparently I am, because I picked up all three to test and review to see if it was worth the price, and I will be providing reviews and comparisons for all!All Palettes.jpg

The items launched are the Cool, Warm, and Editorial. I almost missed the Editorial release, but I managed to sneak it in here too. Continue reading “Editorial Sephora Pro Palette Review”

Can we all settle down on the drama?

Guys… It’s not that serious. It’s just make up. If it’s not working for you. Return it.

What am I referringCapture.PNG to you may wonder? Well… Let me just rustle up a screen cap of what a search on YouTube gets you for “Subculture review”

I much prefer to stay away from reviews of new products until I have tested them out myself, but this one, was next to impossible to do so.

The drama was explosive. Beauty “gurus” grinding their brushes into palettes and being surprised when it turns into a massive shit storm of a mess… what did they think was going to happen?

The amount of OMG! WTF! ?DISGUSTING! @#$% all over social media and directed at Anastasia is shocking, and wildly over dramatic.  It is well within our rights as bloggers to not like a product or to

I bought this palette, I own this palette, I use this palette. I have used it almost everyday for a week.

This is what it looked like at the time of purchase. Beforeand this is where we are at 7 days of use later… (apologies for different lighting, one had studio lights, and one did not)FullSizeRender

Do you SEE THERE IS NO PAN?! DO YOU SEE IT LOOKS ALMOST THE SAME?! Thank the lord for the fact that I am not a savage with my eye shadows and I am not using a pitch fork to apply? Phew. Goodness sakes that was a close one!

As of the time of the after photo I have used all of the shades with the exception of Dawn. Not for any particular reason, I just happen to not have used it yet.

I am asking politely as one human to another, can we please stop creating drama around this release? If you don’t like this item, please feel free to return it. If it doesn’t work for you, doesn’t blend, or you just don’t like the shades, please feel free to give it an open and honest review, but PLEASE stop with the consistent swirling of your brushes into it until you burn out so much product you hit pan on purpose. Stop with the over dramatics. It’s exhausting, and you are making something of nothing.

There are so many other products I have watched people “make work” that are more expensive and worse quality. (Natasha D, I am looking at your palettes).

What are your thoughts on Subculture-Gate? Too much? Seems ridiculous? or totally founded on reason?

Hold the phone NYX!

ALRIGHT ALRIGHT ALRIGHT, NOW I HAVE SEEN IT ALL.

I was browsing around on Ulta.com, to see what I can waste some money on and actually bite the bullet and get it delivered to Canada…. since I still haven’t taken advantage of yet.

You know the old song and dance…. Makeup….New arrivals…. OOOOO SHINY!

Oh hey there NYX has a new palette, looks like one of those old cheesy ones, which are sometimes a  sweet score! Lets take a look.

beautystaplepalette_main.jpgOh…. Whats this? It’s $65 CAD?!! How is this even possible?

What is this world I am living in where a NYX drugstore palette is $65? I am actually over the moon angry about this.

These are DRUGSTORE quality products. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but this is INSANE.

I am beyond disappointed in this price point. How is anyone supposed to afford these items if this is the rate of inflation on makeup? Eventually the cash cow is going to run out, and these makeup companies are going to be in big trouble. /rantfin.png

Are you a Saint or a Sinner?

There is nothing better in this world than going to pick up your mail, and finding yourself face to face with a surprise package.

Last week, after many impatient days of waiting for our new mailbox key- I went and picked up two weeks worth of mail and packages. Low and behold Influenster had sent me the Saint and Sinner Perfumes from KaIMG_6635.JPGt Von D.

These perfumes were a re-release of the classic fragrances from several years ago. They have been repackaged and are some of the most beautiful bottles I have ever seen. Kat never fails to imprep420219-av-02-Lhero.jpgss with her packaging and design work.

Sinner fragrance notes: Warm and Spicy, patchouli, wood, cinnamon.

Saint fragrance notes: Cool Floral, Jasmine Vanilla, Musk

$115/3.5 oz

The only perfume that has made its way into my life, and actually been used to the bottom of the bottle is, Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb. These are next up on my list to purchase.

The only question is… am I a Saint or a Sinner?

Brands I Rarely Buy From : Colour Pop

Here I am, at it again. Today I am coming at you with another brand I don’t throw my money at with intensity.

download.jpg

Colourpop came out of no where, with their lippie stix being pedaled all over social media, and their super shock eye shadows were creating quiet the stir.  Everytime I filled up my cart with those beautiful little nuggets of mousy shadow, something in me has always screamed ABORT ABORT ABORT, right before check out.

The first time Ig74en.jpg abandoned my cart I was pretty sure if one more makeup package showed up on our door step my husband would change the locks and I would be homeless forever. There are a lot of things I will be homeless for, but single shadows aren’t one of those things. Come talk to me when you find an epic palette.

The second time, I was in a panning phase. I knew damn well I have about 20 000 single shadows sitting in the second drawer of my Alex tower, screaming for me to use them, and stop being so hateful towards them. I always want them until I have th47267877.jpgem, and then carry on using my palettes instead.

Alas, a sale! Now I don’t feel bad about ordering anything because its ON SALE! Who can pass up such a good deal!? Dory me. ES-Cap-e. One day I did eventually figure out that no matter how cute the single shadows look all organized and pretty, or how good the sale was, it doesn’t mean I will use them. They will go in the drawer, and never come out.

After about six months, of the old cart fill up and abandon dance I started to intently watch reviews. More and more people (who weren’t paid to say good things) were launching more honest reviews. The lippie stixs were dry and flaky…. shadows were drying up and not being able to be used after only a few months. There was also some reports of sketchy business ethics as well, so I stopped regretting not picking up these products.

The releases never stopped, and although I was on their mailing lists I was never phased by them. Highlighters, Bronzers, Matte Liquid Lipsticks, Metallics, and now pressed shadows and Youtuber collaborations galore.

I was going to me-spends-200-plus-online-shopping-shipping-5-99-me-shipping-5793635bite the bullet very recently, it was time for me to just do it, but then THE DAMN SHIPPING WAS INSANITY. Everyone– I know. I just won’t pay stupid prices for shipping.

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you are all Colour Poppin!

It’s been 11 months since my last Ipsy

While flitting around on the web I have noticed a considerable amount of people posting their goodies from their Ipsy subscriptions. Like a poisonous influx of the $10 makeup subscription all over my social medias trying to get into my wallet.

What better time to review if I regret my decision to cancel or not.  Continue reading “It’s been 11 months since my last Ipsy”
